Happy new year of grace to you and to all whom your ministry serves! We complete the Octave of Christmas as we open a fresh page of a new calendar. This month contains two solemnities: Mary Mother of God, which is also the World Day of Peace (1); as well as Epiphany, which is Orthodox Christmas as well as the traditional day for the Blessing of Homes (7).

I’m not going to pretend that I know a thing about fishing. But I do know a thing or two about casting nets and being caught in them. And isn’t being caught how each of us discovers our vocation?

In 1999 everyone thought that the world would end with the beginning of the year 2000 because of the Y2K “millennium bug” that threatened everything run by computers.

In answer to Christ's call to repent, let us acknowledge our sins and prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.

At last I have found my vocation: My vocation is love.
